The Cridge Centre for the family is British Columbia's oldest registered non-profit society. Along with his wife Mary, he pioneered many social and cultured causes in the city. Cridge id sometimes described as Victoria's first social worker. Cridge came out to Victoria as Chaplain of the Hudson's Bay Company in 1855. Our founders Bishop Edward Cridge and his wife Mary were outstanding pioneers of Victoria. He took the initiative which led to the creation of the Royal Jubilee Hospital and founded the BC Protestant Orphan's home in 1873.
